World Robot Olympiad — Senior Challenge

Autonomous EV3 robot with PID navigation and a forklift mechanism — top 3 nationally among 80+ teams.

Top 3

national finish

80+

competing teams

A two-person team project for WRO Kazakhstan: a fully autonomous robot with PID-controlled closed-loop navigation on color-sensor feedback, a forklift mechanism for load/transport/stacking, and zone-detection logic — finishing top 3 in the country.

Reliability beats cleverness

Competition robotics compresses engineering into its essentials: the field is known, the time is short, and the robot is alone out there. The design philosophy was repeatability — PID line tracking tuned until runs were boringly consistent, a forklift mechanism debugged until alignment errors disappeared, and task sequencing that recovered gracefully when a zone read failed.
